Breakfast in America

A full American breakfast consists of bacon, eggs, hash browns or home fries, toast or some other bread, fruit or juice, and coffee. It is often referred to as a "country breakfast" in many areas of the Midwestern United States. The terms "fry" and "full breakfast" are not generally used in North America, though hotels generally distinguish between a light "continental breakfast" and a hot, cooked breakfast.

In the Southern United States the meal is typically known as a "big breakfast" or "Sunday breakfast" and usually contains some combination of eggs, grits, toast or biscuits with white gravy, hash browns, potato pancakes or "breakfast potatoes", bacon, sausage, ham or steak, other meats such as scrapple or liver pudding, pancakes, cinnamon rolls or similar sweet pastries, all served with coffee and juice (usually orange or grapefruit).

Breakfast in China and America have several things in common. First of all, they are both various. People have many choices. For example, American can choose bacon, sausage, ham and steak. They can drink coffee, milk, juice and so on. Similarly, we have many kinds of food. When it comes to food which is made with flour, we have noodles, steamed bread, fired stick and bun. A second way in which these two kinds of breakfast are similar is that they both have a tendency to fast. With the accelerating pace of life, especially in big cities, more and more people don't have enough time to enjoy their breakfast. They must eat fast and full. In this case, western breakfast is very popular in China.
Even though American and Chinese breakfast have many common things, they are strikingly different in many ways. For example, Chinese breakfast often consists of rice and steamed bread. In China, we usually eat porridge. However, as far as I know, the American like to drink coffee, milk or some fruit juice in the breakfast. Another difference is American prefer to eat some simple food, like bread, eggs, ham or buy Binger King's hamburgers in the morning. In contrast, Chinese people like to eat their own breakfast at home and it is usually complex. People spend many time preparing breakfast. Then, American breakfast has more nutrition and calorie. For instance, the bacon, sausage, ham and steak have high protein and fat. Whereas, sometimes Chinese breakfast lack nutrition because people like to eat salted vegetable which has little nutrition. And we need to eat a lot, or we'll be hungry before lunch. Lastly, we don't have a habit of reading newspapers when they eat breakfast unlike American usually do it.
